The Dubai metro’s Gold Line could be the next big reveal for Dubai’s population. It starts at Al Ghubaiba in Bur Dubai and runs through Business Bay, Meydan, Global Village, and Dubailand.
The best part is yet to come– this proposal aims to ease the crowding on red lines and further improve accessibility to both older and newer residential and commercial developments in Dubai.
Dubai Metro Gold Line: What Does It Mean For Dubai Residents?
The expectations for the Dubai gold metro line project are high. That’s why the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has invited international firms to lead the consultancy and provide the best for the people.

So what does this mean for our people in Dubai? The general expectations include:
- The likely big bidders waiting in line are AECOM (US), AtkinsRéalis (Canada), Jacobs (US), Mott MacDonald (UK), Parsons Corporation (US), and SYSTRA (France). This means the Dubai transportation system will undergo major transformations to meet the growing population trend of the city.
- You can expect manageable crowds around the Red Line. This is because the Gold Line also facilitates commutes from Al-Ghubaiba in Bur Dubai to various destinations, including Business Bay, Meydan, Global Village, and Dubailand.
- While the Dubai Blue Line Metro project is expected to be operational in 2029, with the Gold line initiative you can see that the Dubai transportation system will have higher coverage for more areas. So, say yes to fewer bus switches in the near future.
Why it’s a big deal for Dubai?
Dubai’s population, which stands at around 3.84 million, is not just a number; it’s a sign of rapid population growth. This growth underscores the need for infrastructure projects to accommodate increasing transportation demands.

For the same reason, the Dubai Metro Gold Line proposal will improve connectivity and accessibility across key parts of the city. It is expected to work alongside the Blue Line project, which focuses on improving access in regions such as Dubai Creek Harbour, Festival City, Mirdif, and Dubai Silicon Oasis.
With both the Gold and Blue Line projects, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is planning for more such initiatives to provide residents with better transportation options for the future.
The Bottom line
Dubai keeps its ideas coming and its strategies tuning in. The Dubai Gold Line is one such example.
